18thC Chinoiserie Double Doors

Name: 18thC Chinoiserie Double Doors
SKU: 375

An utterly wonderful pair of doors, with amazing original paint and an inserted cast iron Chinoiserie (cockpen) pattern grille.

Their original use is a mystery, but given their strength, boxlock and hinges it is likely that they were some sort of secure place, perhaps a wine cellar or a gun room.

A hugely rare, possibly unique, piece of English country house history that can be used again.

The style is typical of the themes being explored throughout the mid to late 18thC period and relates to the work of Sir William Chambers.
