A rare and unusual pair of terracotta niches. These would have been set into a garden wall or building and used to hold a pair of busts. Similar examples can be seen at Ham house and Hampton court.
These have no makers marks but are typical of the buff terracotta ornaments produced around Lambeth from the mid 1800’s onwards, the colour and style makes them likely to be by Doulton or Blashfield etc. Perhaps a one off commission.
