Georgian Carved Sandstone Pediment
A fantastic carved sandstone door pediment dating from the mid 18thC.
Following the Vitruvian principles of architecture this pediment has a vermiculated (from the Latin vermiculus meaning “little worm”) tympanum (the recessed central panel) and egg and dart mouldings.
A rare and highly decorative piece of architectural salvage.
