Six Spindle Back Chairs

An excellent harlequin set of 6 ash and elm spindle back chairs with solid seats, dowel top rail and shaped frieze.

From the Bosbury area of Herefordshire these are typical of the chairs made by Phillip Clisset’s workshop. One chair bears the stamp WC which denotes William Cole (1851-1871) who was a chair maker in Bosbury and also the brother in law of Clisset.
